A Solo Bike packing Trip on ‘The Jurassic Coast’

Its all about weeknight bike packing!

Summer always seems so fast, before you know it, every weekend is booked, so why not get out there on a weeknight! its totally doable, even with work in the morning.

I pedalled out From home, over the chain ferry to the ‘Isle of Purbeck’ on The Surly Karate monkey. I hit as much single track and gravel as possible to end up on the coast cliffs for a sleeping spot, with morning swimming options (essential in this heat)

Purbeck is magical at any time, but especially in the evening when the sun is low.

I managed to sneak in a swift pint at “The Square and Compass’ before heading down to the cliffs for a quick dip before finding a sleeping spot.

No need for a tent of even a bivvy bag! it was so warm.

Waking up to sunrise on a cliff edge was pretty special, seabirds gliding past and waves lapping the rocks below, I made a quick coffee, ate some oats and climbed down to the natural rock pools for a morning swim. I ended up swimming along the coast for about 500 yards, climbing up and exploring the ledges and caves as I went.

When I got back to my bike, a Guy had just climbed down to the water to let his golden retriever have a swim, he was hiking the south west coast path, just him and his dog. we had a nice chat and made a coffee.

The ride back was epic, beaming sunshine and empty dusty trails. Ill be heading out on a weeknight again soon for sure!
