The Barlow Pass tires is named after a pass on the Mountain Loop Highway, a scenic gravel road through the central Cascades. The road leads past the ghost town of Monte Cristo before ascending the pass. On the long straights and sweeping turns of this gravel road, the extra stability of a large-wheeled bike can provide an advantage as you descend at high speed.

The Barlow Pass is a great road tire for 700C bikes with moderately large clearances.

Compass Barlow Pass:

Our supple casings roll smoothly over surface irregularities. They absorb less energy as they deform with each tire revolution. Compass tires make your bike feel alive. Compass tires are well-suited for everyday use. The tread pattern interlocks with the road surface for superb cornering grip, whether your roads are wet or dry. The tread is 3 mm thick in the center to last many miles, but thin and supple on the shoulders where it doesn’t wear. Choose the widest tires your bike can fit for more speed on rough roads, better cornering grip, more comfort and fewer flats. (Wide tires roll over debris that gets hammered into narrower tires.)

Available with Standard and Extralight casings. The Standard casings are an affordable option that also offers extra protection against sidewall cuts on sharp rocks. The Extralight casings take the performance, comfort and feel of your bike to an entirely new level. Once you have a set of Compass tires, you won’t be able to go back to “normal” tires!
